Banding
Since 2012, banding of American Oystercatchers in New York has been performed following the protocols established by the American Oystercatcher Working Group.
New York Banding Schemes
2014-present: Duplicate orange bands with black triangle-code configuration (three black engraved horizontally-oriented letters/numbers with one character above two characters) on each upper leg. USFWS metal band on either lower leg.
2012-2013: Duplicate yellow bands with black horizontal code (two black engraved horizontally-oriented letters/numbers) on each upper leg. USFWS metal band on either lower leg.
